GT-R Retires with Two Special Edition Models

2024 will be the last year for the Nissan GT-R in the United States. Nissan’s highest-performance model, affectionately nicknamed “Godzilla” for its tremendous power and supercar-beating capability, has had a good 17-year run with constant evolutionary improvements. At the same time, the body styling has remained largely unchanged. Dick Smith Nissan of Columbia will be sad to see the GT-R go. But like Godzilla taking out one last battleship before disappearing into the sea, Nissan is giving the GT-R a send-off with two special edition models.

The first is known as the GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition. The term “Takumi” describes a master craftsman who has perfected their skills over years of painstaking work and dedication. In this instance, the Takumi is a tribute to the four men who have hand-built each 545-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-6 engine found beneath the hood of the Nissan GT-R. On every engine of this special edition will be a badge honoring the engine builders, and on the engine bay will be a gold VIN plate.

The T-spec Takumi Edition will be noticed from the outside by its distinctive Midnight Purple exterior. The color honors previous iconic GT-R special editions. The interior features Mori Green leather. Like all T-Spec models for 2024, the Takumi features wide fenders around gold-painted versions of the NISMO's RAYS® 20-inch forged wheels and NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control. Pricing for the 2024 Nissan GT-RT-spec Takumi Edition will start at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $151,090 and is expected to be available this summer.

The second special edition model is the GT-R Skyline Edition. As every Nissan aficionado knows, 'Skyline' was the name of a long-running series of Japanese-market sport coupes that eventually evolved into the GT-R. Always at the forefront of technology, the model was named to reflect the beauty of the skylines of Japanese cities. This is the first official use of the 'Skyline' name in the United States. The GT-R Skyline Edition, which is a part of the GT-R Premium model, features a striking Bayside Blue exterior, a color that was initially popular among the early GT-R models and has been reintroduced for this special send-off model. A stunning Sora Blue interior complements the exterior. The GT-R Skyline Edition is priced at a starting MSRP of $131,090, making it a must-have for Nissan fans and collectors.

The models are truly limited editions, with only 200 units planned for the United States. Since there are 1,069 Nissan dealers across the US, the odds of one simply landing in the Nissan of Columbia inventory are few. However, you can contact any of our sales professionals about special ordering one of these rare editions before they and the GT-R are gone forever.
